I have mainly worked in SMBs and I always thought that marketing classes and handbooks were totally disconnected with the reality of these enterprises that represents about 80% of our economy. Although the « official » definition of a SMB is somewhat restrictive (Less than 500 employees), I tend to include in my SMB definition any enterprise that struggles against big corporations or that does not have big marketing dollars to spread its name at a nationwide or global level. In my mind, you can have 2000 employees and still be a SMB, it depends on your sector.
In a fast-moving environment where everyone talks about ROI, web 2.0, conversion rate, fragmented markets, increased competition levels, better informed consumers and so on, I wanted to create a platform where SME’s marketing managers, product managers, general managers, CEO and other marketing decision makers could spread and share ideas and experiences with other fellow marketers and build a better marketing practice.
